2010 – 2018 : Around the world in 8 years!
David’s extraordinary cake decorating journey has now completed a full circle. After travelling around the world, he has returned back to his hometown of Liverpool to continue doing what he loves best – sharing his knowledge of free-hand / freestyle cake decorating to his captivated local, national and international audience.
In 2010, over 20 years after he first started his commercial retail cake store business, David started receiving requests both nationally and internationally for him to teach his free-hand / freestyle creative cake decorating art which took place at his newly launched cake decorating academy located at his retail cake store premises.
Gaining international recognition, in 2012 David was asked by bakery and cake decorating academies as well as large international corporations to share his knowledge and creative techniques to audiences at many international corporate seminars and conventions taking place around the world.
Life changing experiences
During the next 8 years David along with his assistant Edward embarked on a cake decorating adventure which took them to far away places, as they met fellow cake decorators, sharing their creative passion for art together at corporate seminars and conventions, while experiencing local culinary bakery and cake decorating traditions.
The experience changed David and Edward’s lives forever, constantly gaining inspiration, with a much better understanding and appreciation of the exciting world of cake decorating.
Y Viva España!
In the summer of 2012 Spanish event organisers Amparo Maria along with Antonia and Pepe at cake decorating academy and supply store ‘GAUDIR’ in Dénia Spain invited David and his assistant Edward as international guests of honour to attend a corporate cake decorating seminar which was the first international adventure for the Liverpool lads.
For the next few years ‘GAUDIR’ hosted cake decorating seminar events inviting David and Edward to return to enjoy cake decorating with Spanish and other international students travelling from Columbia, Portugal, Israel, Philippines, Germany and Brazil.
Memories of Dénia will always remain very special for both David and Edward.
In the autumn of 2012 Norwegian event organiser May at cake decorating academy ‘Farmors Festkaker’ in Bergen Norway invited David and his assistant Edward to attend a corporate cake decorating convention as international guests of honour.
Renowned for being one of the wettest places on Earth with an average annual rainfall measuring 2,250 mm, it was clear skies and sunshine that beamed down on the cake decorators who shared their creative passion during this Norse adventure.
With students travelling from all regions of Norway to attend the convention, David and Edward embraced the local cuisine and cultural traditions along with the inspirational splendours of experiencing breathtaking views of natural beauty while travelling across the Norwegian fjords.
What an exciting adventure this was – never to be forgotten!
Italy – Pure Therapy!
In the spring of 2013 Italian event organiser Marta contacted David and his assistant Edward inviting the Liverpool cake decorators as international guests of honour to attend a corporate cake decorating seminar event taking place at cake decorating academy ‘Sweet Sins Bakery’ in Gadzada, a beautiful enchanting historical village located just outside Milan.
Students travelled from all regions of Italy and also Switzerland, Austria and Germany to attend the seminar.
Staying at the centuries old Villa Cagnola, David and Edward found peace, calm and inspiration as each morning and evening they sat in awe watching spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the The Alps.
For the next few years ‘Sweet Sins Bakery’ hosted cake decorating seminar events inviting David and Edward to return to enjoy their cake decorating passion.
Steeped in history and cultural tradition, for David and Edward Gadzada redefined natural rustic beauty of another time and place, inspiring the guys from Liverpool with inner calm and serenity.
All inspired in Portugal
In the late summer of 2013 Portuguese event organiser Julie and Jacques at cake decorating academy ‘The Great American Cake’ located in Cascais near Lisbon, invited David and his assistant Edward to attend a corporate cake decorating convention as international guests of honour.
The convention took place at the prestigious ‘ESHTE’ hotel and catering college where budding cake decorators of all ages joined in the creative experience.
Spending time with students at ‘ESHTE’ took David back his own to early college years as he reminisced with excitement his memories of chasing the dream of having his own successful retail cake store business – a dream which was realised in 1983.
For the next few years ‘The Great American Cake’ hosted cake decorating conventions at ‘ESHTE’ college, inviting David and Edward to return to share the love of cake decorating with Portuguese and Brazillian students.
Hallo from Germany!
In the early autumn of 2013 German events organiser Jens at ‘Cake Akademie’ in Cologne invited David and his assistant Edward to attend a corporate cake decorating seminar as international guests of honour.
For the next few years ‘Cake Akademie’ hosted cake decorating seminars, inviting David and Edward to return to share their love of cake decorating with students travelling from all regions of Germany, along with other international students from Egypt, Austria, Switzerland and USA.
David and Edward enjoyed every moment embracing the cultural traditions along with the inspirational magnificence of Gothic art and architecture of Cologne and traditional German cuisine accompanied by an occasional local beer.

Estonia – The Tallinn Experience
During the autumn of 2013, after cake decorating store owner Marika and her 3 dearest friends travelled their home town of Tallinn in Estonia to Liverpool a cake decorating seminar. It wasn’t too long after the ladies returned back home that David and Edward received a telephone call inviting them both as international guests of honour to attend a corporate cake decorating convention in the medieval city of Tallinn.
It was sheer joy for David and Edward to meet local Estonian cake decorators as well as other international students travelling from from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Latvia and Russia.
Creating with Royal Icing and then celebrating with a visit to Tallinn’s National Opera House, the Liverpool lads embraced Estonia’s medieval past, savouring the cultural traditions while discovering the sweet delights of the centuries old marzipan museum, as well as having the honour of meeting Mr Otto Kubo, master chocolatier of the famous ‘Kalev’ chocolate company founded in 1806.

In the late autumn of 2013 Dutch events organiser Dominique at ‘The Little Cake Shop’ near Amsterdam invited David and his assistant Edward to attend a corporate cake decorating seminar as international guests of honour.
For the next few years ‘The Little Cake Shop’ hosted cake decorating seminars, inviting David and Edward to return to share the love of cake decorating with Dutch students as well as other international students travelling from Belgium, Germany and St Maarten in Caribbean.
Rich in history and culture Amsterdam was an inspirational moment in time that David and Edward will always cherish.
Howdy (cake decorating) partners!
In the summer of 2015 USA events organiser Elbia at ‘Alexa’s Cakes and Edible Art’ invited David and his assistant Edward to attend a corporate cake decorating seminar in Idaho as international guests of honour.
Meeting USA and Canadian fellow cake decorators who shared the same creative passion for cake art was an amazing experience for David and Edward.
The journey was extra special for Edward, who fulfilled a childhood dream of visiting Idaho and Oregon to discover the historic West of ‘The Oregon Trail’ – the large wheeled wagon train route and migrant trail of 2,170-miles (3,490 km) that connected the Missouri River to valleys in Oregon.
Taking time out with fellow students to visit the historic ‘Snake River Pass’ in Idaho and the town of Vale in Oregon (the first stop in Oregon of ‘The Oregon Trail’) made David and Edward’s USA experience simply awesome!
